Casale del Gallo weddings, on a private estate half an hour from Rome

Casale del Gallo is not a wedding venue in the usual sense. It is a private estate of three traditional houses, two pools and wide lawns, taken for exclusive use, half an hour from Rome. Two of the weddings in our portfolio were held here, and this page sets out what we know of it.

What Casale del Gallo is

The estate is three traditional houses set around gardens: Casale San Carlo, the main house, with Sant’Antonio and San Giorgio beside it. Between them there are fifteen bedrooms, two swimming pools and a garden wide enough that guests spread out instead of queueing. It is a family property rented by the night for exclusive use, with a minimum stay of three nights, so the wedding party wakes up where the wedding happens.

That is the reason couples choose it. Most places near Rome give you either the beds or the party. Here the two sit on the same lawn, and a wedding weekend becomes a stay: a welcome dinner on the first night, the wedding on the second, a slow lunch by the pool on the third.

Where the ceremony and the dinner happen

There are two natural places for the ceremony. One is among the cypresses, where a line of three trees gives two possible positions, one of them more shaded in the afternoon. The other is in front of the main house, with a frame built around a doorway in the green. Dinner is laid on the lawns, at one long table or several, and the outdoor space takes a far larger group than the houses can sleep.

The house linen is white and classic, which is a good starting point rather than a design. Every wedding we have built here brought its own palette. For Sydney and Julien it was the deep reds, fuchsia and yellow of her Tara Latour dress, carried through nine low arrangements on one U shaped imperial table for thirty. For Savanna and Nick it was rattan chairs across the lawn and flowers held in the late light.

Guests, beds and the rain plan

The estate sleeps up to twenty eight. For a larger wedding, a bed and breakfast five minutes away hosts up to forty, and there are further hotels in the area. Many of the couples we work with keep the rest of their guests in central Rome, which turns the wedding into a trip and leaves a straightforward shuttle of around half an hour each way.

Under cover, the houses seat about forty for dinner. For anything larger, the rain plan is a marquee, and it is designed and booked with the rest of the wedding rather than in the final week. We treat it as a second version of the evening, not as a compromise.

Food, music and the house rules

Food comes from the house: an aperitivo, a served dinner and a dessert buffet for the wedding, breakfasts and lunches across the stay, and private chef dinners that work well for the welcome night. Outside alcohol and water are not allowed, so the wine list and the bar are settled with the estate.

Music can run until one in the morning. String lights over the dinner and dessert areas can be arranged with the property. Access is free and unhurried when the estate is privatised: there is private parking for suppliers and a short, well kept unpaved stretch on the way in, which matters for the day the flowers and the rentals arrive.

When to marry at Casale del Gallo

The same months that suit Rome suit the estate: late April to mid June, and September into October, when the days are warm and the evenings stay soft enough to eat outside. Sydney and Julien married here in the middle of September. July and August are possible with a later ceremony and shade for every moment guests spend standing.

The ceremony held on the estate is a symbolic one. For American couples the legal side follows the route set out on our Rome page: most marry at home first, then hold the ceremony that matters here.

Seasons, guest travel and the legal route for the whole area are on our Rome wedding page.

Frequently asked questions

What couples ask us first about a wedding at Casale del Gallo.

How far is Casale del Gallo from Rome?

About half an hour from Rome, and close to Ciampino airport. Guests who stay in the city reach it by shuttle, and the drive is short enough for them to see Rome during the day and still be at dinner by sunset.

How many guests can stay at Casale del Gallo?

Up to twenty eight, across three houses and fifteen bedrooms. A bed and breakfast five minutes away hosts up to forty more, and there are other hotels nearby. Many couples keep the rest of their guests in central Rome.

How many guests can a wedding at Casale del Gallo hold?

Outdoors, on the lawns, two hundred and more. Under cover the houses seat about forty for dinner, so any larger wedding needs a marquee as its rain plan, booked from the start.

How is the estate booked?

By the night, for exclusive use of the whole property, with a minimum stay of three nights. Food and drink are provided by the house. We set out the complete picture for your dates and guest count in the first consultation.

Can we bring our own caterer or wine?

Food comes from the estate, and outside alcohol and water are not allowed. Flowers, rentals, lighting, music and the rest of the design are brought in, which is where our work sits.

Have you planned weddings at Casale del Gallo?

Yes. Sydney and Julien, in September 2025, and Savanna and Nick are both in our portfolio. We know the houses, the lawns, the access and the people who run the property.

Further answers on planning, timelines and how we work are on the FAQ page.
