Yellow Peonies.Latina, Italy

A wedding editorial at Cantina Sant’Eufemia, a working winery in Latina, in the farmed country of southern Lazio between Rome and the Tyrrhenian coast, where the light is broad and unfiltered and the skies are wider than anywhere near the capital. Zahra Studio approached the story as a balance of intimacy and polish, details that feel personal, never performative.

The whole editorial turns on one decision: yellow. Yellow is the colour Italian weddings almost never use, because it refuses to be tasteful and quiet, and that is exactly why it was chosen here. Yellow peonies were set along a long wooden banquet table, unclothed so the grain stays part of the palette, with the winery’s own wine poured and its vineyard visible through floor to ceiling glass behind the setting. Everything else was kept low and warm so the flowers stay the loudest thing in the frame.

The setting speaks of central Italy: warmth in the stone, softness in the greenery, a pace that lets emotion breathe. The design follows that rhythm, with florals, light and tablescape in dialogue with the place rather than imposed on it. A room with that much glass gives you one long, generous light and no way to hide from it, so the table was built to be read straight on, as a single continuous line rather than a series of arrangements. Peonies made that possible and also made it urgent. They open fast, they open unevenly, and they will not wait for a schedule, so the entire setting has to be timed to the flowers rather than the other way round: cut and conditioned to reach the exact hour of the shoot fully open and not a day past it.

Motif Floral built the florals and the hair pieces came from Motif Floral Accessori. The gown was made by Bencivenga Alta Sartoria, Viktoria Puscas modelled, hair and makeup were by Linda Lynn, the stationery by Marilisa Bragazzi, and Sara Paolucci Photo shot the series. Concept, design and coordination were Zahra Studio.

For couples drawn to Lazio beyond the capital, a winery like Cantina Sant’Eufemia offers room to stage a celebration that feels rooted, luminous and unmistakably Italian, at a distance from Rome that still lets guests arrive in an afternoon.
